Summer is just around the corner! After these long weeks of lockdown we need a break and good news is on the way. More and more countries are implementing staged border re-openings as part of their post-COVID-19 action plans and airlines have begun to sell flights again. Even so, knowing just where and when you can book your summer holidays can be a real headache.
Long distance travel to Asia, Africa, the Americas or Australia may still not be on the cards for quite a while, but many countries in Europe have already eased travel restrictions and reopened land borders. Many others are planning staged reopening of airports in the coming weeks, with more travel news to follow.
To help you in your travel plans, GIVT will be monitoring which countries are opening for tourism, when and where. We will keep you up to date with countries’ latest policies with an easy to follow detailed list every Monday. Many of us were left disappointed when our summer plans were dashed. Travelling further – Asia, America, Australia and Africa
Long distance flights are starting to open up with direct flights to the United States and Canada available from various airlines from multiple locations across Europe. Flight to Brazil, as well as many other countries in Central and South America, are uncertain as they are currently in the midst of a pandemic, whereas countries like Australia and New Zealand are remaining very cautious and maintaining COVID travel restrictions.
China is reporting very low instance of new cases of Coronavirus, yet remains on alert, as do many other Asian countries. Africa as yet has not suffered as badly as Europe, but hardest hit countries are Africa’s biggest holiday destinations, Egypt, South Africa and Morocco. For many countries outside Europe, it is just too early to tell when travel will return to normal.
