This Privacy Policy details how Givt, Inc. "Givt" uses "Personal Information" that is collected through use of the Givt application, service, platform, or website. If you do not agree to anything contained herein, please do not register, create an account, or otherwise interact with the Givt App, Platform, or Website at www.givt.com. You are explicitly accepting the terms contained in this Policy by using Givt. Anyone under the age of 13 is strictly prohibited from using Givt. By using our App, you are indicating that you are either above the age of 18 or using with parental permission between the ages of 13 and 17. If we obtain knowledge that a user is under the age of 13, we will cancel your account and make every effort to identify and remove all information collected about that user from our records. The same definitions used in our Terms of Service that are capitalized throughout are used in this Policy. Additionally, the term "Personal Information" means any and all information we collect from your various interactions with Givt, including but not limited to: information voluntarily entered, data acquired through connection to your Social Network, location information, URL info, cookies, and all correspondence with the company or it's Merchants.
Givt collects various types of Personal Information in order to professionally conduct its business and offer its Users and Merchants the best possible experience. The goal at Givt is to create a unique and customized giving experience that each user will individually value. To achieve this goal, Givt collects information from all interactions with the Givt Platform in addition to collection from your Social Network, and through the use of cookies and related technologies. This includes collecting the following types of information:
Identification Information which allows us to communicate with you and distinguish you from other users in our system. This includes your name, email address, log-in information, Social Network user account information or other address information you directly provide to Givt. This also includes assigning each user a unique ID number we may use for internal purposes. Information obtained through Social Network connections (such as Facebook Connect) includes gender, friendships, birthdates, location information, "likes", and other social data.
Interaction Information regarding your use of the Givt Application. This includes Merchants you may view, friends you interact with, gift cards you look at, gift, or receive and other information about how you communicate with the Company or how you use our Website, Application, or Platform. Electronic Identification Information including cookies and related technologies, IP Address information, URL information, browser type and operating system and location information via smartphone if you have sharing turned on via your mobile device.
Givt uses Personal Information for several business purposes including:
Conducting our day-to-day business of facilitating offers from the Merchants to our base of Users. Personal information allows Givt and Merchants to better customize offers based upon demographic information, interactions with your friends, types of things you give and receive, browsing history, and other interactions within your social network including lifestyle and location information. Conducting our day-to-day business includes making improvements to our site and application, customizing offers to users, evaluating eligibility of users for certain offers, better understanding users, tracking redemption of gift cards and collecting related analytical data including total money spent with Merchant, providing customer support for Merchants and Users, providing marketing or other Givt company information to our Users or Merchants including promotional emails, administering surveys or contests, and to manage our legal and professional business duties including fraud prevention, tax reporting, corporate formalities, security, and other legal concerns. Any information provided to our service providers will be done in accordance with our contract with that party.
Givt does not disclose your Personal Information directly to Merchants, however it does use circumstantial data analytics as a result of your interaction with Merchants. For example, Givt may provide that certain gender or age groups give or receive their Givt cards at higher or lower rates. Givt also provides information to Merchants regarding users who specifically give or receive one of the Merchants gift cards in order to facilitate the transaction, prevent fraud, conduct billing, validate purchases and conduct other standard business processes regarding the transaction itself.
Givt does allow you to change and/or restrict the Personal Information you provide, however the latter may cause certain elements of the Service to not function correctly. Changes to the information you provide can be made by editing the sharing settings on your Social Network, by altering the settings on your mobile phone device, or by altering your privacy and security settings on your web browser related to cookies. Changes to your settings and or complete removal of the Givt Application from your device will prevent collection of the restricted information, but it will not be effective retroactively. Givt will not go back in time and remove past information from the Application or its databases.
Givt uses cookies as an electronic means of storing information on your computer and our servers so we can recognize Users in future browsing sessions and better identify information that is interesting to Users. Cookies are alphanumeric identifiers that we transfer to your computer through your browser to recognize your sessions and tell us when you visit pages on our site. Cookies help us identify what offers you may find interesting to give away or receive in addition to protecting the company and the User from a security standpoint.
Data protection is of the utmost importance at Givt. We will take any and all reasonable measures in compliance with the law to protect all Personal Information and other data we collect. Givt uses security technologies and standard operating procedures to protect your data from unlawful or unauthorized access. Users should prevent unauthorized access to your account by protecting your password appropriately and properly logging out when using a public computer. Despite all our efforts, Givt cannot completely mitigate all risk associated with data collection and protection. As such, Givt is not responsible for guaranteeing the protection of the data, absent proof of gross negligence or worse in caring for the data.
